Spaghetti Sauce


1 lb ground beef (omit if using Meatballs)

1 large onion, chopped

1/2 cup celery, chopped

3 tbsp bell pepper, chopped

3 cloves garlic, chopped

1 (28 oz) can tomatoes

2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce, rinse can

1 (6 oz) can tomato paste, rinse can

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cumin

1 tsp herb seasoning

2 tsp oregano

1 tsp sweet basil

2 tbsp brown sugar


  1. Brown Meat in large stock pot; add Onion, Celery, Bell Pepper, and Garlic. Cook until tender.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook on low for 3 or more hours.

My grandparents owned a restaurant (1949-51) and their cook was Italian. This was his recipe. It is delicious!
