Anxiousness

I’m pretty sure all of us have been anxious at some point during this Pandemic. Being Anxious is ok, in fact, it’s a normal emotion. However, staying there is not ok. When we stay in a state of anxiousness it leads to constant worry and into a downward spiral. This is not helpful for us or for anyone around us, and trust me, I am still learning this lesson.

For those that know me, they know that I am a fixer. I want to fix everything for everyone, and I don’t want anyone to hurt or be unhappy. But here’s the deal…I can’t fix this, and neither can you. So, what are we do to?

Well, for me, I start everyday with the Lord. I tell Him how I feel. I cry and sometimes scream. I let it all out, and then I leave all that anxiousness with Him. He is the only One who can handle the weight. If I continue to hang on, I am hurting myself physically, mentally and emotionally over something I have no control. I can’t be strong for someone else if I’m not taking care of myself. So, I let go and move on. I find something to do each day that makes my heart happy.

Today, the sun is shining where I live! Hallelujah, it’s been a long time! I took my dog for a long walk and enjoyed the outdoors. Nature is so healing! Listening to the birds sing is so peaceful. Everything is blooming right now, which my allergies really don’t like, but it is beautiful! I walked past a honeysuckle bush which smelled divine! That in itself made me happy! I passed others on my walk, and we exchanged smiles and kind words which is very uplifting. And to top it off, I got some wonderful and much needed Vitamin D!

Needless to say, I came home happy, and I am calm and ready for the rest of my day! So, what do you like to do? What makes your heart happy? Go do that! Go make your heart happy!
